Francis was the son of Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Brott and Betsy Ann Stevens. He married Florence Adeline Reed on 2 June 1912 in Denver. They moved to Seattle about 1916. Francis was a chauffeur for George William Trimble a wealthy Seattle banker. He was a pioneer radio-tv engineer and director of engineering for KOMO and KOMO-TV, Seattle. He was chief engineer for KOMO when it was organized in 1926. He built five of the original station transmitters in the Pacific Northwest. He owned and operated stations KFIY and KGCL in Seattle. He was a licensed pilot. He and Florence had 2 sons Gerald Francis and Robert Olmend. Robert was a First Lieut. in the U.S. Air Force.
