Maureen Louise Stump, 85, of Bowen, passed away at the North Adams Home in Mendon at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014.
Maureen Louise Stump was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Sciota, the daughter of Maurice Francis and Alice Mary (Ruebush) Arnold. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo graduating in 1946. She went on to receive her nurses training at St. Francis in Macomb. On April 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles Stump at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City. He preceded her in death in 2012. Maureen worked many years at Methode Electronics in Carthage. Maureen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, loved her Catholic faith and recited the rosary daily. She loved to host big dinners for her family and friends and enjoyed the many vacations she took with her family over the years.
Maureen is survived by her five children, Stephen John (Sharon) Stump of Quincy, Patrick Stump of Quincy, James Michael (Denise) Stump of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Theresa Renee (Saeed) Ghafourian of Irvine, Calif., and Mark Francis (Angela) Stump of Kahoka, Mo.; 15 grandchildren, Matthew (Aleeza) Stump, Rebecca (Ryan) Shinn, Elizabeth (Jose) Torres, and Peter, John and Brian Stump, Trenton (Meg), Jamison (Annie), Lucas (Kami) and Nicole Stump, Amanda and Sean Ghafourian, and Seth, Caleb, and Noah Stump; one step-grandson, Zachary Lorence; five great grandchildren, Bowen Charles Stump, Eleanor Lee Stump, Jose Xavier Torres, Rafael Amadeus Torres and Dominic Ryan Shinn; and a brother Joseph Francis (Audrey) Arnold of Dallas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; a son, Charles Anthony "Tony" Stump; three brothers, Thomas Dean, James Vincent (Donna Faye), Jerome Lee Arnold; and a sister Shirley Ann Ferrill.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, April 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. that afternoon in Calvary Cemetery in Carthage.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage from 5 to 8 p.m. A rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
