Florence was born June 21, 1918 in Vernal to Orin Daniel and Eleanor Merkley Allen. She was the seventh of nine children.
Married John D. Massey on August 22, 1939. They had seven beautiful children. Later divorced.
Florence worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She walked to and from work every day. After her children were grown, she moved to Salt Lake City to attend cosmetology school, winning top student of the year.
After graduation, she worked as an instructor at Continental College of Beauty. She loved her students and was very beloved in return.
Florence married Ruben Borger on June 25, 1974. They were happily married for seventeen years before his passing. On February 18, 2009, she entered the Bountiful Temple, where she was sealed to Ruben.
Florence lived out her golden years in Bountiful, where she had many wonderful friends.
She will be greatly missed by all.
Survived by six of her children, Orin Allen (Dennise), Elynn (Donald) Halterman, Jay Dee (Denise), Dennis (Kim), Maureen (Robert) Allred, and Ira Dell (Lorie). Affectionately known as Grandma Great, she proudly leaves a legacy of four generations of progeny. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and eldest son, Duane.
A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Maeser-Fairview Cemetery, Vernal.
