Eleanor Allen Caldwell

Eleanor Viola Allen Caldwell, age 96, passed away Feb. 14, 2002. She was born Oct. 7, 1905 in Vernal to Orin Daniel Jr. and Eleanor Merkley Allen.

Viola married her sweetheart Lamond Caldwell on Feb. 24, 1924. Viola worked as a cook for the Uintah School District school lunch program for many years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary organization and Relief Society. She enjoyed her home, gardening, flowers, sewing, crocheting, baking and helping others.

She is survived by her four sons, Markel A. (Nadine) Caldwell of Provo; Raymond L. (Jackie) Caldwell of Vernal; Donald B. (Bernice) Caldwell of Vernal; Arlo K. (Wilma) Caldwell of Layton; three daughters, Elva (Milton) Searle of Vernal; Monta Rae (Robert) Showalter of Vernal; Christine (Jerry) Smallwood of West Valley City; 22 grandchildren, many great, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Roberts of Vernal; Edith (Keith) Bodily of Boise, Idaho; Florence Borger of Bountiful.

Funeral services were held Feb. 18 in the Maeser 3rd Ward Chapel.. Burial was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery, Under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

Funeral services were conducted by Bishop Mikel Reynolds.

Pallbearers were
Lewis Caldwell, Wade Caldwell, Todd Searle, Rudy Caldwell, Brent Richardson and Daryl Richardson. Honorary pallbearers was all of Viola's great-grandsons.

Compassionate services were by Maeser 3rd Ward Relief Society. Family prayer was offered by Markel Caldwell. Chorister was Laurel Harrison and organist was Lana Hall. Congregational Hymn "Abide with Me; Tis Eventide." Invocation was given by Arlo Caldwell. Obituary was given by Bishop Mikel Reynolds. Musical number, Laura's Theme, done by Monte Caldwell. Randy Searle spoke. Musical Number, "Love At Home," by Emily Christianson and Ellen Kiever, accompanied by Mary Nielson. Speaker was Mark Peterson. Closing remarks was done by Bishop Reynolds. Congregational Hymn "God Be with You Til We Meet Again." Benediction was given by Robert Showalter. Dedication of grave was given by Milt Searle.
