Funeral services for Rosa Bell Ashley, 102, of Barnwell, SC will be held one p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston; burial will be in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent in Mrs. Rosa’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Boulevard, Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169 or a charity of one’s choice. Mrs. Rosa passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014.
Born and raised in Barnwell County, she was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church until becoming a resident of Laurel Baye Healthcare in Williston for the past ten years where she attended services. Mrs. Rosa was affectionately known as Granny and was a daughter of the late Eula Lee Ashley and was the oldest last survivor of her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Cheek; a grandson, Zack Taylor; a granddaughter, Vickie Taylor, all of Barnwell; she is survived by two nieces and two nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Taylor, a son-in-law, William Cheek; sisters, Clara Randall, Hattie Barr; brothers, Wallace and Otis Ashley.
