Charles Murray Murphy, 85, of St. Joseph, KY passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Heartford House. He was born September 23, 1928 a son of the late James Robert and Mary Theresa Rummage Murphy. Murray was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and loved spending time with his family. He was a life-long tobacco farmer, working to bring tobacco farmers and tobacco companies together. He graduated from the boys division of Mt. St. Joseph High School in 1948. He was preceded in death by a son, David Murphy in May of 2005; 8 brothers, John R. Murphy, Robertus Murphy, Daniel Murphy, Christopher Murphy, Hubert Murphy, Fr. Thomas Aquinas Murphy, Bernard Murphy, and Martin Murphy; and 2 sisters, Sr. Theresa Murphy, and Anita Murphy .

Survivors include his wife, Delia Jean Mattingly Murphy; children, Jim Murphy (Janet) of Owensboro, Paul Murphy (Mitzi) of St. Joseph, Leo Murphy (Daphne) of Owensboro, Richard L. "Rick" Murphy (Gayle) of St. Joseph, Martha Warren of Owensboro, Dennis Murphy of St. Joseph, Maggie Yeckering (Scott) of St. Joseph, Johnny Murphy (Marilou) of St. Joseph, Billy Murphy (Kathy) of Owensboro, Gary Murphy (Angie) of St. Joseph, Jeanie Jones (Bo) of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter-in-law Lee Ann Murphy of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jennifer Byrne (Sean), Julie Ferguson, Jamie Murphy (Nicole ), Jerrod Murphy (Tricia), Jacob Murphy, Michelle Smith (Danny) Amy Boyd, Nicole Kays, Meaghan Murphy, Zachary Murphy, Michael Murphy, Misty Cook (Jonathan), Matthew Murphy ( Michele), Jeremy Murphy (Veronica), Robin Murphy, Justin Murphy, Leslie Dunn, Lauren Brown (Casey), Catie Warren (Adam), Claire Warren, Rachel Warren (Ross), Emily Warren, Bradley Gower, Kaleb Murphy, Jeffrey Yeckering, Allison Yeckering, Sarah Yeckering, Austin Yeckering, Mary Grace Murphy, John Robert Murphy, Joseph Murphy David Murphy, Katelyn Lee, Christian Murphy, Madlyn Murphy, William Murphy, Molly Murphy, Myles Murphy, James Michael Jones, Murray Jones, and 33 great- grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be at 11 am Wednesday August 6, 2014 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
