Charles Fluney grew up at Corbetton, Ontario, Canada. He had many siblings. Both his brother Robert Fluney and Charles immigrated to New York in 1906 to build "homes, bridges and subways." In the 1910 census he was employed as a Carpenter for the Railroad. Charles and Robert were working as foremen in the construction business. In the New York marriage indexes, Margaret Daly and Charles were married on 4 Sept.1911 in Manhatten. He was living at 785 Third Avenue, New York. James Cromie officiated at their marriage at 7 West 55th Street. According to a family story Charles, Robert, Joseph, William and Wesley Fluney built the red brick Victorian home for their mother Caroline Grey Fluney at Corbetton, Ontario.

Before Charles died he was building a home for all his family.

Charles Fluney for many years a well known Jamaica builder, died Thursday at his home at 9029 139th Street, Jamaica. He was born in Canada 46 years ago to John and Caroline Grey Fluney and is survived by his widow, Margaret Daly Fluney and a daughter Agnes; a brother and his parents.

The funeral will be held at 10 AM Monday with a Requiem mass at the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Cenacle, Jamaica. Internment will be at the Calvary Cemetery under direction of Joseph A. Shields of Richmond Hill.

According to the death registration, Charles died at the Jamaica Hospital, Queens County, NY.
