Americus "Buck" Vespucius Clark Jr., 87, of Sterling passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 in Sterling. Visitation will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with funeral services following at 11:30 am with Bishop Gary Schumacher officiating.

Interment will be at a later date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver.

Buck was born on January 18, 1927 in Vowells Mill, Louisiana to Americus Vespucius Clark Sr. and Delia May Colston. He graduated high school and was then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving for 20 years. He then worked in the trucking industry until he retired. He married Joann June Franklin on February 18, 1951 in Dell City, Texas. They were married for 56 years until her passing on October 6, 2007. He married Erma Fay Phillips on August 15, 2009. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, old airplanes, western movies, and was a John Wayne fan. He also enjoyed genealogy, traveling with his camper trailer and family, and his dog Pansy. He is survived by his wife Erma Clark; son Dwight Earl Clark and wife Kashia; daughter Deborah Joann Taylor and husband Mac; sisters Barbara Rae Lasyone and husband Oscar, Bobbette Grow and husband Marco, and Marilyn Linde and husband Douglas; brothers Melvin Clark and wife Donna and Hulen Clark and wife Patricia; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Americus and Delia; sisters Edna Geverne Johnson, Evelyn Ethington, Vera Wiggins, and Anne Dell Clark. Memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Fund in care of Deborah Taylor, 731 Douglas St., Sterling, CO 80751.
