The Scandia Journal, January 25, 1934

Bertha Andena Haggman, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Haggman was born at the family home near Kackley, January 6, 1875.

In May 1891, she was confirmed in the Ada Lutheran church, by the Rev. Holmen, and retained her membership in this church until the time of her death, January 13, 1934. Aged 59 years and 7 days.

On April 24, 1901, she was married to Herman J. Anderson of Courtland. To this union were born five children, all of whom, with the father, survive: Chester of Scandia, Mrs. Eula Hurtig and Mrs. Dorothy Russell of Courtland, Russell and Elizabeth of the home. There are five grandchildren; Carol and John Hurtig; Chester, James and Phyllis Russell.

Besides the immediate family there survive her mother, Mrs. S.A. Haggman of Scandia; six brothers, Alfred, Victor, Emil, Leonard, Leadue and Bert; and two sisters, Mabel and Blanche.

Mrs. Anderson had a long illness, was always patient and cheerful; her untiring devotion to her family and tolerance of her own physical pain and weakness, plus her courageous faith, made her life and that of those about her brighter and happier in spite of her infirmities.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 15 at the home at 1:30 o'clock and at the Ada Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Rev. C.G. Danielson and Rev. Chas Pehrson of Scandia officiating.

Mr. C.C. Green sang two solos at the home and the Ada Lutheran choir sang three selections at the church.

Pallbearers were Arthur F. Johnson, Gussie Henrikson, Andrew Wilson, ElReno Sederlin, John Maldquist, and Reuben Engwall.

Interment was made at the Courtland Cemetery.
