Carlton G. "Carley" Allen, 66 of Carthage, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 2, 2014 in Greenfield.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1947 in Knifely, Kentucky to the late Welby and Creola (Bowen) Allen.

He retired from Roll Coater after many years as a supervisor, but Carley never really retired. He was a very dedicated worker. Carley loved riding horses in his spare time and rode horses since he was 10 years old. He was the 8th child out of 10 in his family.

Carley loved his daughter and grandchildren beyond measure. He was a man who loved his family more than anything. He never knew a stranger; he was a friend to all. He loved life and friends in general. Carley's word was everything. He was a good fellar.

Carley was preceded in death by his brother Cecil Allen, sister Ruth Brown, and brother-in-laws, Maurice Mings and John Gordon.

He was survived by his significant other, Jena Howard; daughter, Shannon (Doug)Toll; brothers, Charles (PJ) Allen, Wayne (Marlyn) Allen, and Joe (Marty) Allen; sisters, Maxine (Jim) Howard, Mary (Maurice) Mings, Georgia (Jr.) Polston, Veronica (John) Gordon; and grandchildren, Samantha (Alex) Moore and Brylin Toll.

A Celebration of Carley's Life will be at 3 p.m. July 6 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown.

Visitations is 1 to 3 p.m. prior to service. At family request, please dress in casual attire in honor of Carley.

Danny Shelton will officiating service.

In lieu of flowers, please give donations to Hancock Regional Hospice Unit.
