1/22/1916 - 1/22/1973 Obituary from Wayne County Press, 1/25/1973: Russell Barnard, 57, Wayne City, Dies Russell I. Barnard, 57, of Wayne City, an employee of the Ashland Oil Company in Mt. Vernon, was dead-on-arrival at 11 a.m. Monday at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Sick At Work Mr. Barnard became sick while at work and was rushde [sic] to the hospital, but died enroute. His cause of death is not known. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at Richardson's Funeral Home in Wayne City wth burial in the Bailey Cemetery. Mr. Barnard was born in Wayne county Jan. 22, 1916, the son of Willie and Lillie Barnard. On May 21, 1962, he marired [sic] Gladys Attaway who survives. He resided north of Wayne City. He was a member of the Ellen Moore Methodist church in Fairfield and the Masonic Lodge at Wayne City. The Survivors Surviving besides his widow are a step-son, K. . . ; two grandchildren; a brother, Lowell Barnard, Wayne City; and a sister, Mrs. Inez Manahan, Johnsonville.
