Mary Magdalena Whisenhunt Whitener was the daughter of Philip Whisenhunt. He was married twice; his first wife's name is unknown. By the first marriage the children were Conrad, Mary Magdalena, Barbara, Elizabeth, Adam, George, John, and Henry. His second wife was Ann Helms who had a daughter named Barbara Helms. Mary Magdalena married Benjamin Whitener about 1780 and they had 15 children. Benjamin names each one in his will. All of them married but one daughter, Margaret. In his will Benjamin called his wife "Molly" and that name is also used in her estate records. At the July 1817 Lincoln Co., NC Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions Letters of Administration on the Estate of Molly Whitener, deceased, were issued to Daniel B. Whitener and Daniel Conrad, who qualified and gave bond. Articles from her estate were sold August 12, 1817 by the administrators. She died the year after her husband's death and was buried in the Michael Weidener Cemetery. Two rocks side by side with initials BW and MW are in the cemetery. Michael Whitener descendants placed markers by the stones.
