Arnold Frank Adams, Jr., 77, a Dublin, Georgia, resident of more than 55 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26, after comfortable long-term care in his home followed by a brief illness. Originally from Macon, Mr. Adams was ever the entrepreneur and investor and owned many businesses, including Adams Piano Company and Factory, Coastal Waffles, the Diner on Abercorn, and other commercial property interests in Savannah. He was a student of finance and an inspiring mentor to many with his wonderful common sense advice. "Big Daddy", as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, quietly went about his business doing good for others without desire for recognition.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 58 years, June Selph Adams of Dublin (originally Glenwood), Vicki Adams Blizzard of Knoxville, Tennessee (daughter); Dr. A. Frank Adams III (Jane) of Canton (son), and grandchildren Sarah Marie Blizzard of Atlanta and Benjamin Steven Adams Blizzard of Knoxville, Tennessee.
He is also survived by his brother, John William (Bill) Adams (Anita) of Charlotte, North Carolina, brother-in-law Jim McGreggor of Macon, first cousin James Durward Smith of Atlanta,and numerous nieces and nephews, including Steven William (Apryl) Adams of Tomball, Texas, Laura Ellen Adams Hinsdale (Grover) of Atlanta, John Mark Adams of Atlanta, Brian Keith McGreggor (Michele) of Roswell, Kendall Brent McGreggor of Newnan, John Jerry McDaniel of Woodbine, Judy Marie McDaniel Tipton (Keith) of Glenwood, Debra June McDaniel Brantley (Kendall) of Lyons, and Cara Jane McDaniel Henry (Sam) of Glenwood. He loved each and every one, including his more than 20 great nieces and nephews, and more than 30 great-great nieces and nephews.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Dublin for more than 50 years, Mr. Adams was also a lifetime Noble of the Al Sihah Shriners of Macon, Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Georgia (Olivet No. 27),a lifetime Lion's Club member of Dublin, 50-year member of the Dublin Country Club, 40-year member of the Chatham Club in Savannah, and several other organizations, including the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, charter member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Sons of Confederate Veterans Life Member Camp No. 2, Order of the Shillelagh, Georgia Seniors' Golf, Moose Club, Elk's Club, and a special appointment by President Nixon to the Small Business Administration. He was also president of the Community Concert Association of Dublin in the late 1960s. Mr. Adams was a tremendous supporter of the WWII veterans, especially since his brother-in-law was a career Marine. He made sure his diner in Savannah flew the Hunter AFB flag to welcome home our volunteer troops. He also frequently attended the Ma Hawkin's and McDonald's ROMEO club meetings, and shared good conversations with many friends.
Mr. Adams will be interred at Edge Family Cemetery in Glenwood, Georgia, at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, following a celebration of his life at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dublin, with Dr. Cliff Morris and Dr. Keith Tipton officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin, with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28.
