June Selph Adams  June 9, 1931 – February 6, 2023 (91)

June Selph Adams, 91, of Dublin, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 6, 2023. She lived in Dublin from the early 1950s for almost 70 years. Originally from Glenwood, Georgia, Mrs. Adams was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, a prolific author, a champion amateur golfer, an entrepreneur alongside her husband Arnold F. Adams, Jr., and an ever-engaging storyteller/author.

Mrs. Adams began her career as an elementary school teacher after graduating from Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia in 1951. She completed Georgia Teacher's College in Statesboro in 1956 after she married Arnold, then joined him in the piano business and worked alongside him in entrepreneurial endeavors for almost 20 years.

On the golf course and in life, she never let the grass grow under her feet.  She took up golf in the late 1950s, playing the sport well into her 80s. She was a member of the Dublin Ladies Golf Association (DLGA) for 53 years. Her diligence and love of the game earned her six holes in one, the two lowest scores (a 67 and a 69) by a lady golfer in the history of the Dublin Country Club, 19 DLGA club championships spanning the years 1968-2001, 10 DLGA Invitational Tournament wins spanning the years 1976-1993, in addition to 123 other golf winnings and awards.

In the late 1970s, she took up genealogy, authoring 15 books about her family, and her husband's family, and cataloging cemeteries. She never stopped making and strengthening friendships, including the bonds she developed with her beloved golden girls of First Baptist Church.
Along with her husband, she will be at the Edge Memorial Cemetery just down the road from their homes.
She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Arnold F. Adams, Jr., parents, Jerry Jackson and Marie Brack Selph of Glenwood, her sister, Jessie Selph McDaniel of Glenwood, and her brother, Charles Jerry Selph of Jacksonville North Carolina. She was so proud of her family and loved that Marine brother of hers who served his country in WWII and Korea.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Dublin for almost 70 years and the Winsome Sunday School class for at least 30 years, Mrs. Adams was also a member of the John Laurens Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Dublin Ladies' Golf Association for 53 years, a 60-year member of the Dublin Country Club, the Wiregrass Genealogical Society and several other organizations related to genealogy.

Arrangements are being handled by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin, with visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Townsend's on Friday, February 10, 2023.  There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday at 1 pm at First Baptist Church of Dublin with Dr. Darrell Paulk and Dr. Keith Tipton officiating.  Mrs. Adams will be interred at Edge Memorial Cemetery in Glenwood, Georgia, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11.  We rejoice in the blessings of our beloved mother and father.

Mom and Dad were charitable and humble in their giving. Their love for others was apparent their entire lives. If you wish to honor Mom with giving, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dublin, Friendship Baptist Church of Glenwood, or a charity of your choice.
