Business Man Dies, Rites Wednesday
P. V. Bennett, Terrell groceryman for 40 years, died at his home, 910 North Frances street, early this morning. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anderson-Clayton Bros., at 10:0 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Thomas Hardy and the Rev. Charles Mull officiating. Internment will be in Oakland Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be A. D. Wrenn, Clifford Wickham, L. L. Farmer, Monroe Hughes, Melvin Bethea, Marcus Hall, L. M. Turner, and John Heaton.
Paris Vassar Bennett was born in Dallas county, Texas February 27, 1876. He came to Terrell in 1912 and opened the grocery store at it present location. He had been actively engaged in the operation of the store until recent years.
He was a member of the Christian church and a member of the Odd Fellow lodge.
He was married to Fannie May Starnes and to this union five children were born. His wife preceded him in death on January 28, 1934 and one son died in infancy. Survivors are three sons, Claude Bennett and Fred Bennett of Terrell and Floyd Bennett of Dallas; Mrs. R. L. Thompson of Waco; Mrs. Ralph Dorough of Terrell, Claude Hardy Bennett of Odessa; two great-grandchildren, Robbie and Lavina Ann Dorough of Terrell; one brother, Ed B. Bennett of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. H. F. Starnes of Terrell; a number of nieces and nephews; and other family members.
