A CALLING:
What calls us to find the ancestors? It goes beyond a simple curiosity. We are taken over, compelled, as if possessed by something bigger than us that is begging to be revealed. There is at least one of us in most every family, called to be the scribe. Like others I am called to gather and assemble the ancestors to breathe life back into them as far back as we can reach. We take what we find and chronicle the facts of their existence, remembering their names and who they were and what they did. They are the sum of who we are, for without them, we would not exist. We greet those who came before us, restoring their place in the familial line. We scribe their stories and their histories. We search for them in public libraries, county records, and weed-filled or well-kept cemeteries. We comb through yellowed newspapers, family archives, and lovely old letters and photo albums. We find them! And in finding them we find ourselves.

I've taken over a large number of memorials from a few inactive and deceased contributors. I'm trying to work through them to update them and add info but it will take a while. I welcome any edits and bio suggestions that you wish to send.

Since the move to Ancestry and the new website, newspaper obituaries, death certificates and other scanned documentation is allowed. We encourage members to move the images down to the bottom of the photo display so that they are not the first thing you see when viewing a memorial page.
Thank you, Find a Grave Administration

I turned my contact me off due to the number of edit requests that were being left on this page instead of through the edit requests system.

A "Veteran" - whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve- is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to " The United States of America" for an amount of "up to, and including his/her life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact. That is why I place their rank on their memorial.

If requested to adjust inscription spacing, it will be declined and left as is. Sorry.

If you are reading this because you think that edits aren't being done in a timely manner, please be patient. Yes, I'm still an active member. We as managers have twenty (20) days to accept or not accept each suggestion.

I will not transfer any memorials if your relationship is not listed. If it is not listed in the request, I will ask you for your relationship to the person. Stating you are someone's "direct descendant" is not specific and from now on, I will not keep asking for the relationship.

I will try to transfer memorials I have no direct interest in, but not for century old ones with thousands of descendants. (Borrowed from another graver)

PLEASE DO NOT add genealogical (like family trees, census records, military records, etc.) and/or biographical information, as well as, advertisements to other websites to the "leave a flower or remembrance note section" of a memorial. This is simply not the place for this kind of information. This section of the memorial is designated for a person to leave a personal note and/or a flower in their memory. If by chance you do add this kind of information, I will have FAG remove it.

I would deeply appreciate it if you would ASK ME to add any genealogical and/or biographical information to the bio section of a person's memorial. I WILL NOT add links to other websites or federal census records to the memorials that I have posted, so please do not send them or add them into the picture section. This is not the proper forum for that.
