Lelah Ina Black, 82, formerly of 911 E. Second, died on January 31, 1981 at the Ottumwa Hospital. She was born October 9, 1898 near Packwood to John A. and Margaret Wolfe Bennett. She lived near Linby. She married Guy R. Black on June 19, 1920. Guy operated a hardware store in Linby from 1920 to 1926 when he and Lelah moved to Ottumwa. They operated Black's Grocery Store at Birch and Second from 1947 to 1961. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. In 1979 Guy and Lelah moved to the Ottumwa Manor due to ill health.
Survivors include her husband, Guy, of Ottumwa Manor, and sisters Treva Allen of Sigourney and Ava Kent of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Genevieve Clingman and Mida Bennett; and a brother Ray Bennett.
