On September 23, 1891, Isabella Semple was born at 9 a.m. in Swinhill, Dalserf, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, a daughter of a Henry Barr Semple (1849-1918), Coal-Pit Oversman, and Jeanie "Janet" Campbell (Stewart) Semple (1849-1925).

She is the sister of William Semple (1871-1944); Jane Campbell (Semple) Whitelaw (1872-1953); Janet (Semple) Lang (1876-1953); John Semple (1879-1941); Henry Semple, Sr (1881-1953); Marion (Semple) Mauchline (1883-1955); Thomas Semple (1886-1953) and Agnes Nancy (Semple) Haddon (1889-1974).

In 1912, Isabel Semple emigrated with her family from Larkhall, Scotland to Arrow Park, Arrow Lakes, British Columbia, Canada.

On 28 June 1921, Isabel Semple of Vancouver, B.C., age 29, married Roger Stanley Percy Lanaway (1891-1963) of Hatzic, B.C., age 30 and warehouse manager, at All Saints Church, Mission City, B.C., Canada. She became the mother of Doreen Lanaway (c.1922-?). Isabel was a housewife and lived in Canada for 58 years. In 1963, her husband, Percy, died.

On March 29, 1969, widowed Scottish born Isabel (Semple) Lanaway of 1530 West 13th Ave, Suite 1, Vancouver, BC, age 78, died at Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, B.C. The cause of death included chronic nephritis and hypertension. Son-in-law, Keith W. Morris of 217341-58A Ave, Cloverdale, BC, was informant. (Note: Her death certificate incorrectly gave her birth as Sept. 25, 1890).

Cremation was on April 1, 1969 with Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby, BC and arrangements with Simmons & McBride Funeral Home, Vancouver, BC, Canada.
