Thea Christina Finhius, the daughter of Thorea and Christina Stockdale Finhuis, was born February 25, 1880, at Skjoldstrommer near Haugesund, Norway.
She attended school in Norway. She came to the United States in 1904. On May 14, 1913 she was married to Mandius S. Stackland at Fort Dodge. Following their marriage, they made their home in the surrounding area. Mr. Stackland died in 1960. For the last four years Thea made her home at the Belmond Nursing Home.
Thea died Friday, July 29, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City at the age of 97 years, five months, and four days.
Survivors include a son, Severt S. Stackland, Estherville; two daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Ray) Deimerly, Clarion; Serina (Mrs. John) Courtois, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Merle and Alvin Stackland and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 1 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Marvin Berkeland officiated, and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
