Mandius Stackland of Eagle Grove died at an Independence Hospital Thursday, July 14. Funeral services were held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Kenneth Torvik, pastor, Saturday at 2:00. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mandius Ivar Stackland was born Oct. 3, 1876, to Shur and Anna Stackland at Shol, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in Norway. In 1902 he came to Jewell, Iowa and was employed for many years on the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad.

In 1913 he married Thea Finbus at Ft. Dodge. After farming for 6 years in Wright County, they moved to Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Severt, of Estherville and two daughters: Serbia, Mrs. John Courtols, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Margaret, Mrs. Raymond Deimerly, of Clarion and 13 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Johnson of Norway.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Alvin Selmer, and Merle Alvin, who was killed in a plane accident at Eagle Grove in 1955 and by two brothers and two sisters who died in Norway.
