Funeral services for Merle Alvin Stackland, 23, will be held Thursday June 16 (today) at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Torvik will officiate.

Stackland died as a result of injuries sustained in the plane crash Monday on the private landing strip near the country club. His death was caused by a skull fracture. Details of the accident and Stackland's death will be found in the plane crash story.

Merle Alvin Stackland was born, Dec. 2, 1925 to parents Mr. and Mrs. Mandius Stackland in Eagle Grove.

He died Monday evening June 13th, following a plane crash near Eagle Grove.

He attended the Eagle Grove schools from which he graduated in 1944. Merle served in the U. S. Navy from 1945 to 1946, in the Pacific Theatre.

He had been a driver of semitrailers for Safe Way for the past 8 years. He received several safe driving awards. He was a flying enthusiast and spent much of his spare time with airplanes.

One brother, Alvin, preceded him in death at the age of 8 years. He is survived by his parents, one brother, Severt of Estherville, two sisters, Mrs. John Ccurtois of West Long Branch, N. J., and Mrs. Raymond Diemerly of Clarion.
