Widow Of One - Time Traction Head Dies
Mrs. Anna Thomas Claimed Following Long Illness
Mrs. Anna Allison Thomas, 797 Ohio Ave., widow of W. B. Thomas, general superintendent of the Steubenville, East Liverpool & Beaver Valley Traction Co. for about 20 years, died Monday at 10:15 a.m. in City Hospital. Mrs. Thomas had been ill for several months, having undergone an operation in June. She had partially recovered but was stricken with a heart ailment Saturday when she was taken to the hospital. A daughter of Charles A. and Matilda Allison, she was born Nov. 7, 1874, in Hancock county. She came to East Liverpool with her parents when she was 10 and had lived here since. Mrs. Thomas had been a member of the Second United Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. She also was affiliated with a number of church societies and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. W. Granvil Cox of Cleveland Heights; two sons, Willard B. Thomas of Jamestown, N.Y., and Charles L. Thomas of Wadsworth; two brothers, Hunter Allison of Cleveland, and Lawrence Allison of East Liverpool, and six grandchildren. Mr. Thomas, retired from the utility, died in 1932. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the late home by Rev. Charles Smith Jr., pastor of the Second United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday night at the home.
