The above Berryman Whelchel is not the same as the Berryman Whelchel who married Mary Ann Beaver. That Berryman was a son of Davis Whelchel (Jr) and 1st wife Mary (nee Irving) Whelchel. Mary died in 1839 and Davis Whelchel (Jr) married Sarah "Sally" Hoagland. They are shown together in the 1850 census living in Fall Creek, Hamilton County, Indiana. Davis Whelchel (Jr) is incorrectly shown as Daniel, but this is Davis Whelchel (Jr) along with his second wife Sarah "Sally" (nee Hoagland) Whelchel and several children, including Berryman.
