She first married Charles George (Charley) LEWIS (son of William Turner LEWIS and Frances Cora (Fannie) BELL) on August 21, 1910 in First Baptist Parsonage, Americus, Sumter County, GA. Some years after the death of her first husband, she married Walter Clyde DOZIER (son of Walter S. DOZIER and Susie B. GEISE) on December 25, 1929 and was divorced from Walter Clyde DOZIER in 1930.

Janie resided between 1883 and 1893 in Macon County, GA; between 1897 and 1907 in Terrell County, GA. and between 1907 and 1972 in Dawson, Terrell County, GA. She was a Methodist.
