LONACONING — Evelyn Mae Brode, 88, of 41 Jackson Street, Lonaconing, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 1994 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born on June 9, 1905 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Leonard H. Moore and Ella Mae (Shimer) Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Brode in 1978. Mrs. Brode was a former employee of the Lonaconing Silk Mill. Surviving are six sons, William E. Brode and wife Mary, Midlothian; Paul R. Brode and wife Norma, Lonaconing; John H. Brode and wife Dorothy, Lonaconing; Howard Brode and wife Mary, Pekin; Robert M. Brode and wife Sadie, McCoole; Alan “Al” Brode and wife Merian, McCoole; one daughter, Thelma M. Goebel and husband Ernie, Beltsville; three brothers, Vincent Moore, Barton; Cecil Moore, Barton; Lawrence Moore, Kitzmiller; six sisters, Mary Howell, Atlanta, Ga.; Martha Fazenbaker, Pontiac, Mich.; Lucy Howell, Barton; Elsie Jenkins, Barton; Hazel Barbour, Gilmore; Grace Humphrey, Cresaptown; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Tuesday and Wednesday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Hyde and the Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
