Deceased Name: Virginia Port

Virginia Port, 89, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Neeses, S.C., the daughter of Anthony and Lila Flake Fogle.

Mrs. Port graduated from Winthrop University in Rockhill, S.C., with a degree in business education. She taught school for many years in Maryland, South Carolina and North Carolina until the birth of her first child. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was active in many prayer groups. She loved flowers and was an excellent cook, but her main focus in life was her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Edward William Port Jr.; and brothers, Henry Fogle and Carlisle Fogle.

She is survived by daughters, Melody Louise Port Tillman and husband, Dr. Ronald Tillman, of Jackson, Tenn., Ronda Sherri Port of Tennessee, and Robin Port Germain and husband, Paul Germain, of Fresno, Calif.; brothers, John Anthony Fogle and wife, Margaret, Brian Fogle and wife, Dolly, Robert Lee Fogle and wife, Frances, Carroll Fogle and wife, Patsy, and Norman Fogle and wife, Emma Alice, all of Neeses, S.C.; grandchildren, Joshua Santos and wife, Danielle, of Seymour, and Timothy Santos of Denver, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, Evan Santos and Ethan Santos of Seymour.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Central Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn Ellis officiating.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Central Baptist Church, 130 Providence Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or Calvary Baptist Church of Neeses, S.C.
