Cosmo Clyde Wise was born in Stony Creek Township, Madison County, Indiana and moved to Nodaway County, Missouri after his father died and his mother remarried. He went to college in Missouri and then taught in Kansas and Colorado. He was a principal in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii starting in 1924. His wife, Cenie Eudora Tillery, was a teacher also and they had no children. They retired to Anaheim, Orange County, California sometime after 1940.
