Mildred Freedom Doughty (pronounced Dow-tee, NOT Doty), was born July 4, 1889 in the Doughty home at 79 Fifield Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island, a child of Frank and Amanda Doughty. Mildred worked as a jewelry enameler before marrying Carlton Ellsworth Welch, May 27, 1911 at East Providence. Mildred and Carlton raised two children, June and Marilyn. Mildred lived until age 105. Her remains were cremated at Andover, Massachusetts and her urn is buried with her husband's urn in the backyard of their log cabin on Lily Road in the village of Lucerne-in-Maine, Dedham, Maine.
