One of Davenport’s aged and respected citizens departed this life and passed into her eternal rest Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Christian Sarsgard [sic], 1913 Marquette street, Davenport, when the death of Mrs. Catherina Meier, nee Schultz, occurred, terminating a prolonged illness. Mrs. Meier was 81 years, 3 months and 20 days of age, and has spent the past half century in Davenport. She was born in Holstein, Germany, Sept. 17, 1826, and came to America and direct to Davenport with her parents in 1856. Her husband, Fritz Meier, died 43 years ago. One son, John Meier, a daughter, Mrs. Mathilda Sarsgard [sic], and two sisters, Mrs. Louisa Lueth and Mrs. Johanna Hansen, survive to mourn their loss.
The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the late home with interment in the City cemetery
