She and her husband had resided on Mattison Road for many years, and she relocated to Bennington, following the loss of her husband, in 2005. The daughter of Walter E. and Grace Fonda Hosford, she was born in Charlotte on April 29, 1915. She grew up in Greenwich, N.Y., and moved to Bennington as a young adult. She had worked at Bennington College as a secretary, and for the Jennings family in North Bennington. She was a member of the North Bennington Congregational Church, the Home Extension Group and the North Bennington PTA for many years. Mrs. Green enjoyed working with all types of crafts, knitting, and listening to music. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader.
She leaves her daughters, Ann Ryan and husband, John, of Bennington, and Nancy Lord of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; grandchildren, Herbert C. Knapp, Amy Knapp-Sullivan, Connie Knapp and Karen Dean, and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Lauren Sullivan and Sara and Wesley Knapp.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held at the HANSON WALBRIDGE SHEA FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, March 11 at 2 p.m., with the Reverend Penny Rich Smith officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in the Grandview Cemetery.
