ABBEVILLE. . .John Henry Robinson, a resident of Abbeville, died early Thursday evening, February 27, 2014, at his home. He was 88.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2014, in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East with Reverend Danny Quincey officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, c/o Henry Reynolds, 3945 County Road 40, Newville, AL 36353.

Mr. Robinson was a lifelong resident of Henry County, son of the late Henry Cleveland Robinson and Mary Elizabeth Murphy Robinson. He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from McGee Oil Company as a truck driver. Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by five sisters, Doris Belcher, Nora Lee Johnson, Mary Volf, Mittie Reynolds, Annie Mae Holmes, and also a brother, Grady Robinson.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Ann Carpenter Robinson, Abbeville; numerous nieces and nephews.
