Nora Lee Holmes Johnson

Nora Lee Holmes Johnson, a resident of County Road 81, Abbeville, died Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2008, in The Medical Center in Columbus, Ga. She was 95.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, near Abbeville, with the Rev. Danny Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, c/o Henry Reynolds, 3945 County Road 40, Newville, AL 36353.
Mrs. Johnson was born and reared near Abbeville, daughter of the late Henry Cleveland Robinson and Mary Elizabeth Murphy Robinson. She lived in Columbus, Ga., about 40 years before returning to Abbeville in 1979. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Paul Holmes Sr. and Alva McNeal Johnson; a daughter, Agnes Elizabeth Holmes Trone; two sisters, Doris Robinson Belcher and Mary Robinson Volf; and a brother, Grady Robinson.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Janet Wise and husband, Bill Wise, Columbus, Ga.; two sons, Thomas Paul Holmes Jr. and wife, Rebecca Holmes, Uchee, Gerald Holmes and wife, Gladys Holmes, Pine Mountain, Ga.; a son-in-law, Charles W. Trone, Astoria, Ill.; two sisters, Annie Mae Holmes and Mittie Reynolds, both of Abbeville; a brother, John Henry Robinson and wife, Ann Robinson, Abbeville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Bill Trone, Kevin Trone, Troy Holmes, Tempest Trone, Jason Holmes and Jerry Volf.
