Alverta E. "Bert" Hostetter, 70, of York, died Monday evening at York County Nursing Home. She was the wife of Walter Hostetter Sr.
The service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Workinger-Semmel Funeral Home Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hostetter was born April 6, 1928, in Dover Township. She was the daughter of the late Wilson and Bessie (Ruppert) Crone.
She was a retail men's department manager, having worked at the former Franklin Discount and King's Discount stores.
Mrs. Hostetter also is survived by three sons, Walter Hostetter Jr. and Frank Hostetter, both of York, and Wilson N. Hostetter of Manchester; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bruce Crone and William Crone, both of Dover, Edward Crone of Rossville and John Crone of Etters; and six sisters, Pauline Stiles of Spry, Helen Stonesifer of Manchester, Viola Croft of North York, Anita Lefever of York, Ruthan na Smith of Seven Valleys and Judy Howard of Dover. Mrs. Hostetter was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy A. Fetrow.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Rodney I. Richesson of Dover Bethany United Methodist Church.
