Bruce R. Crone

Bruce R. Crone, 73, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Gettys) Crone. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary December 23, 2004.

He was born August 25, 1931, in Dover, a son of the late Wilson N. and Bessie I. (Ruppert) Crone.

Following retirement, Bruce owned and operated Crone Construction. He previously worked for Stewart & March Construction as a heavy equipment operator and Operating Engineers Local 542. He was a member of Dover Bethany United Methodist Church; life member of NRA; life member of Hawks Club; life member of Dover Township Fire Company; Union Fire & Hose Company #1 of Dover; Dover Fish & Game; Viking Athletic Association; and Reliance Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Bruce is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Ann and Thomas Giffin of Roaring Springs; two granddaughters, Lori Ann of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Angel of Roaring Springs; two step grandsons, Tom and Rick, both of Roaring Springs; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Crone and Richard Crone, both of Dover; and five sisters, Anita Lefever and Viola Kroft, both of York, Helen Stonesifer of Manchester, Ruthanna Smith of Seven Valleys, and Judy Howard of Dover. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert Crone, Stewart Crone, Ralph Crone and Edward Crone, Sr.; and two sisters, Pauline Stiles and Alverta Hostetter.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Dover Bethany U.M. Church, 4510 Bull Road, Dover. The viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be his pastors, the Rev. William Myers and the Rev. Gary Firster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dover Bethany U.M. Church, 4510 Bull Road, Dover, PA 17315.
