John F. Crone, 77, of Dover, died Saturday morning, August 7, 2010, at his home. He was the loving husband of Arlene M. (Anderson) Crone. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 11, 2009.

Born February 25, 1933, in Dover Township, he was a son of the late Wilson N. and Bessie I. (Ruppert) Crone.

John had over twenty years of service for Operating Engineers and previously worked for Stewart & March for 14 years. He enjoyed woodcutting and helping with family building projects. He liked gardening with his wife and always looked forward to spending time with his family. John will forever be remembered by many as the 'Mayor of Andersontown'.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by a son, Terry L. Crone and his wife, Vickie of Dover; a brother, Richard 'Bill' Crone of Dover; four sisters, Anita Lefever and Viola Kroft, both of York, Helen Stonesifer of Manchester and Judy Howard of Dover. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Keith A. Crone; brothers, Bruce Crone, Stewart Crone, Ralph Crone, Edward Crone, Sr., and Albert Crone; and sisters, Pauline Stiles, Alverta Hostetter, and Ruthanna Smith.

Burial will follow in Rohlers Mountain View Cemetery, Dover.
