Altrude Hoffer, 100, Bismarck, died February 24, 2014, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Rebecca Aardahl officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, February 27, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Altrude was born February 18, 1914, in Parshall, ND, to Benjamin and Minnie (Triebwasser) Reiswig. She was raised and educated in Lincoln Valley. Her family later moved to McClusky, ND. Altrude married Jake Hoffer on April 8, 1934, and the couple farmed north of McClusky for ten years. While living in McClusky, Altrude provided domestic services for many families. Altrude moved to Bismarck in 1960. She worked at St. Alexius Medical Center for ten years, and at the Baptist Home for another ten years, she retired in 1986. Altrude was a member of the United Methodist Church in McClusky. She liked canning and gardening, quilting, crocheting afghans, and embroidery was an important and enjoyable part of her life. She loved to help people. Altrude always made sure all of her family had plenty of crocheted dishtowels. She was deeply loved and cherished by her family and friends. Altrude is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Frieda Hoffer, Garrison, William "Bill" and LuAnn Hoffer, Mesa, AZ; two daughters and one son-in-law, Bernice Just, Vancouver, WA, and Jane and Kenneth Renz, Moffit; six grandsons, Bryan, Bruce, Steve, Pete, and Rodney Hoffer, and Jason Renz; seven granddaughters, Sue Hornstein, Pam Silbernagel, Becky Boyd, Cheryl McAllister, Kimberly Taglor, Sheila Just, and DeeAnn Foster; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Sam (Elsie) Reiswig, Lawrence Reiswig, Elroy (Ruth) Reiswig, and Norris Reiswig; daughter-in-law, Betty Hoffer, Mesa, AZ; many nieces and nephews; and good friends. Altrude was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her son, Lloyd; her parents; three sisters, Esther Faul, Bertha Braunberger and Delores Buelow; three brothers, baby Ted, Melvin and Clarence Reiswig; and great-grandson, Alex Eberle.
