James I. Hickam died at his home in Cape Girardeau Friday, of a heart ailment. Mr. Hickam was born September 5, 1882 in Knoxville, Tennessee and came to Bollinger county with his parents when a small boy.
He spent most of his life in this vicinity, moving to Cape Girardeau several years ago.
He is survived by his widow; seven children all of Cape Girardeau, three sons, Milford Hickam, Henry Hickam and Lee Hickam; four daughters, Mrs. Willard (Inez) Nichols; Marguerite Hickam, Helen Hickam, and Jewell Hickam; one brother, Lon Hickam of St. Louis; five sisters, Mrs. Thelma Puyear and Mrs. Margaret Helan of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Bettie Beck and Mrs. Bell Price of Atlanta, Ga.; and another sister (Myrtle) that lives in California.
Funeral services were at the Dry Creek Methodist Church west of Lutesville Sunday afternoon. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery.
