Mabel Henrietta Larson, 95, of Adams died Thursday evening (March 23, 1995) at Adams Healthcare Center.

Mabel Henrietta Viste was born Nov. 9, 1899, in Lanesboro.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Bill) Dohrn of Loveland, Colo.; three sons, Paul of Forest City, Iowa, Donald of Adams and Willard of Woodbury, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Irvin Viste of Sauk Rapids, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hogan, a granddaughter, two sisters and two brothers.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, with the Rev. Allen Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in Little Cedar Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral Home and an hour before the service Monday at the church.

Mabel Viste Larson was born November 9, 1899, to parents Ole and Caroline Viste in Lanesboro, MN, and was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at Lanesboro.

Her mother passed away when she was very young and after that she made her home with the Wiste Knutson family near Adams.

She was confirmed in the Norwegian language by Rev. O. C. Myhre.

She attended rural school through the 8th grade and one of her teachers was Elizabeth Slindee who passed away recently.

After that she attended Austin High School and graduated from High School and Normal Training there.

She taught in the rural schools in Mower County. One of her pupils is Lucille Hanson who also is a member of Little Cedar Church. Also, Mabel keeps in touch with several other former pupils.

After teaching a number of years she was married December 23, 1921, to Hogen Larson who had been in the Service during World War I. They farmed in the Adams vicinity over 40 years.

To this union four children were born: Paul of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Donald on the farm near Adams; Ruth of Loveland, Colorado; and Willard in Woodbury, MN. Mabel has 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She is a member of ALCW, Circle 8, the Sewing Ladies, the Southland Study Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Past Presidents Club.

Her husband passed away in September 1973, and is buried in Little Cedar Cemetery.

She now resides in the Northside Apartments.

Mabel's favorite hymn is "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and her favorite Bible verse if from Matthew 11:28 - "Come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest."
