Norman W. Strange, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Silverton with the Rev. G.J. Walton and the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Norman was born May 13, 1927, in Silverton to Bryan and Ivah Strange. He lived most of his life in Silverton, where he attended Silverton High School.

He married Peggy Jones Jan. 1, 1948, in Amarillo.

He farmed and ranched in Silverton most of his life. He was a family man and more than anything loved being "Pop" to his grandchildren and supporting them in their sporting events. Norman loved to be involved in his community, where he served as past school board member, director of the McKenzie Water Authority. He was a mason and attended First Baptist Church. He will be missed and remembered for his great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Diana Wood in 2001; a granddaughter, Beth Strange in 1977; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Strange in 1986 and four siblings, Jean Martin and Sylvia Fowler, Ted Strange and Tommy Strange.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Strange of Amarillo; a daughter, Kay Garrison and husband Max of Amarillo; a son, Bill Strange and wife Shana of Silverton; a son-in-law, Bill Wood and wife Paula of Claude; two brothers, Jack Strange and wife Eloisa of Boerne and Fred Strange and wife Wanda of Silverton; a sister, Laura Mae Pitts of Baton Rouge, La.; eight grandchildren, Walt, Cody, Bryan, Ty, Matt, Kassie, Clay and Blake; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the church.
