Bessie Wallace Clark, 98, of Fort Worth passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, in hospice care.

Mrs. Bessie Clark was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Fulbright to George Henry Wallace and Edna Earl Christian Wallace. She moved as a young child to Wellington, where she was a beauty queen and a skillful member of her winning high school basketball team.

She married Orval Clark, her husband of 72 years, and moved to Fort Worth, where she was a homemaker and raised her three children. Bessie was an avid gardener, taking great pride in her many varieties of irises. She loved to bake and made bread every week, gifting friends and neighbors -- even hanging a loaf on her mailbox for the postman. She volunteered for N.E.E.D. many years distributing food and clothing for the less fortunate.

She was a faithful Christian, a member of Birdville Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and director of the kindergarten Sunday school department for more than two decades. She had a generous and loving spirit that will fill our hearts forever.

She was predeceased by her husband, Orval Clark, in 2008; her son, Donald Clark, in 1996; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Thomas Clark, who passed in 2010.

Survivors: Son, Gary Clark; daughter, Linda Ranelle, both of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Holly McCanlies and husband, Mark, Ann Ranelle and husband, Michael Boothby, Jeff Clark and wife, Daniele, Michael Ranelle and wife, Jennifer, and Cherise Clark; and six great-grandchildren.
