Velma Jean Richards Lonas, 76, of Edinburg, Virginia, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Life Care Center of New Market.
Mrs. Lonas was born February 16, 1937 in Page County, Virginia, daughter of the late Charles and Elsie Cloud Richards.
She was a member of Smith Creek Regular Baptist Church in New Market, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Ray Lonas November 10, 2010.
She is survived by two daughters Joyce Blevins and Kaylan Lonas both of Edinburg; a son, David Lonas of Mt. Jackson; a stepson, Sidney M. Lonas of Strasburg; four brothers, Granville Richards of New Market, Charles Richards, Barry Richards and Bruce Richards all of Luray, two sisters, Barbara Mathews of Biloxi, MS and Kay Rhoten of Elkland, MO; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Lonas was preceded in death by a daughter, Alisa Diane Lonas Hottle; a sister, Hilda Maxine Richards Phillips; and three brothers Thomas Edward Richards, Allen Timothy Richards Sr. and Gary Lynwood Richards.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Smith Creek Regular Baptist Church in New Market with the Rev. Brent Hockema officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Luray.
Pallbearers will be Randy Lonas, Phillip Speicher, Kevin Richards, Bruce Richards, Jr. Wayne Phillips and Todd Richards.
The family will receives friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson.
