Ralph Bolton Firebaugh, went to be with the Lord on Saturday,
January 11, 2014. She was born on October 29, 1917 in Eagle
Rock, VA. She was the daughter of the late William Russell
and Mary Martha Esterline Shaffer Hite Barger.
Alice was preceded in death by her sisters, Maude Barger Wilhelm,
Charlotte Barger (Morris) Wolfe; and Annie Barger Wray; half sisters,
Ethel Hite Campbell and Helen Hite Noel; half brothers, Ralph Hite
and Hueit H. Barger.
Surviving is one brother, John Barger, sons, Dale Firebaugh and wife Anna,
Tommy L. Firebaugh and wife Kathy; grandsons, Jeffrey Firebaugh and wife
LeaLynn, Jayson and wife Angela; great grandchildren, Kelsey Firebaugh, and
Brandon Firebaugh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Our mom was a charter member of Hollins Road Baptist Church. She taught the
Primary Sunday school class and also sang in the choir. Miss Alice enjoyed
gardening, playing in Tinker Creek, arts and crafts, and trips to the beach.
She took great joy in accompanying her husband, Ralph, on numerous
excursions with the N&W String band and other musical events.
The Firebaugh family wishes to thank the staff at Friendship Manor
for the professional and gentle care given to Alice as well as family support.
To honor her, friends will be received Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at Oakey's North Chapel, 6732 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Mark Washington and the Rev. Charles R. Doyle officiating. Interment Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
