John Dimond was a Confederate soldier who served briefly at West Point, Muscogee County, Georgia. With his family of wife and 12 children he emigrated to Minnesota following the war. John Dimond came to Sauk Centre, Minnesota after the Civil War. He was probably the first settler near Sauk Lake and he lived on the high point overlooking Sauk Lake on the NE side. His name lives on in the Dimond Point landmark.
