Thresia F Stenzel was born April 1, 1919, in Hyacinth, Kansas to Mike and Emma (Younger)Geist.

She passed away at the Trego-Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney on Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the age of 84. Thresia was a homemaker. She attended Glencoe Rural Trego County School.

On July 17, 1939, Thresia married David Stenzel at St Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. This union lasted 58 years until David's death on June 13, 1998.

In 1948, Thresia moved to Superior, Nebraska and farmed with her husband for 19 years. They moved to Wichita until her husband retired in 1979. Thresia had called WaKeeney home since moving from Wichita. She moved into Keeney Village in 1993.

Thresia was a quilter and a gardener. She was instrumental in starting the Keeney Garden at Keeney Village. She loved playing cards, visiting friends, following the University of Nebraska football team and helping at her church, Christ the King. She received much strength and courage through reading devotional materials.

Survivors include two sons, David Stenzel, Jr and wife Jean, of Linz, Austria, Michael Stenzel and partner, Marti Rogers, of Renton, WA; one daughter, Sandra J Tondreau ad partner, Michael Herbison, of Lincoln, NE; one brother, Bill Geist and wife Anna, Ellis; three sisters, Clara Weber and Eva Slaughter, both of Wichita, Christina Augustine of Lenora; 7 grandchildren, Tracie Simpson, Krysti Michl, Jode Weidmann, Gail Kline, Rich Tondreau, Tim and Steve Stenzel.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, David; 2 brothers, Adam and Andy Geist; 4 sisters, Molly Pfannenstiel, Frances Graf, Leoba Dinkel, and Pauline Weber.

Thresia's happy and positive character strengthened our lives to prepare us for this day, and family and friends have precious memories to comfort them.
