A retired farmer, Mr. McCarty was born and reared in the Sikes community. He was a descendant of a pioneer family of Winn Parish, and was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World. For the past four years he had resided at Joyce.
The deceased leaves his wife, Mrs. Emma Tatum McCarty of Joyce; three sons, Harvey and Horace of Shreveport and Alvin of Rayville; two daughters, Mrs. O. N. Simmons and Mrs. Coy Lawrence of the Hudson community; one brother, C. C. McCarty of Winnsboro; one sister, Mrs. Rose Buchans of Crowville; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
