Born October 4, 1920, in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late South Carolina State Senator, Richmond Stacy, and the late Margaret Jane (Waters) Stacy.
Mrs. Gooch was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Loyalty Sunday School Class. She served as Chairman of the Senior Adult Council at Bethel, where her loving contribution of time and service is appreciated by many.
She was past South Carolina Division president and active member of the Oliver E. Edwards Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a member of the Daniel Morgan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and past worthy matron of the Tallulah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank M. Gooch; a son, F. Marshall Gooch, Jr. and his wife Ruth Ann Gooch of Greenville; two daughters, Peggy Kelly and her husband Mike Kelly of Boiling Springs, and Mary Gee and her husband Edward Gee of Spartanburg; and six grandchildren, Sally and Seth Gooch, Stacy and Anne Kelly, and Edward N. and Elizabeth Gee.
Eastern Star rites were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at Bethel United Methodist Church, with visitation following from 1:30-2:45 p.m.
Funeral services followed at 3:00 p.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. Lawrence F. Hays, Jr. and the Rev. Dr. Charles A. Graves. Entombment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Endowment Fund at Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
