Surround by her family, Virginia Leatham Darley, 78, of Wellsville, Utah, passed away at home on Dec. 7, 2013. She was born April 29, 1935. Virginia was the seventh of nine children born to John A. and Margaret (Rita) Parker Leathem.

She grew to adulthood among wonderful friends and neighbors in the beautiful setting of Wellsville. It was here she helped work on the family farm and enjoyed a carefree childhood. She attended local schools and graduated from South Cache High School in 1953. During her junior year of high school, she met the love of her life, a handsome young man named Don Darley, who had lived less than a mile from her home all their lives.

Virginia and Don were married on March 27, 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple. They purchased a home next door to Don's parents and began their lives together. She cherished the Darley family and the important role they played in her life. She was so grateful to be part of that legacy. It was a blessing and joy for Virginia and Don to welcome into their family two beautiful daughters, Debra Leigh and Kathleen.

Virginia's life was enriched by the experience of being a wife and a mother, loving and following a hard-working and softball-playing husband, and her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She served in the Primary, mutual and Relief Society and was a faithful visiting teacher, continuing until just recently, when her health no longer allowed her to do so. She truly walked by faith and taught by example. As their daughters married and had children, her delight and joy grew, welcoming five grandchildren.

Debra married Tracy Lee Bailey; their children are Jeffrey, Mark (Emily) and Courtney (Charley). Kathleen married Brooks Martin Reeder, their children are Camron (Brandy) and Candace (Wade) Webster. Virginia's posterity now includes nine beautiful great-grandchildren. Anders Camron and Leatham Jack Reeder; Brooklynn Dawn, Anniston Ruth and Wade Hawkins Webster; Kayden Mark, Dylan Neil and Weston Tracy Bailey; and most recently, Tracy Cache Bailey.

Virginia enjoyed working at Clearfield Cheese for eight years and later at First Security Bank for 23 years. She always treasured the friendship and association of those she worked with. Holidays, especially Christmas and Easter, family celebrations and family reunions were always something to look forward to and enjoy.

For most of her life her Saturdays were reserved for shopping and sharing lunch with her mother, sisters and daughters. Among her special memories are the times she and Don were able to travel and enjoy the beauty of this earth, visit Hawaii, Disneyland, spend summers at Island Park and head to California to take in a few Angels baseball games.

Also the great times she was able to share with her parents and siblings. In June of 1999, Virginia lost her sweetheart, Don, and life was never quite the same without his companionship and strength. She left this life with much gratitude for her turn on Earth, and the knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan and His abiding love for her.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Debra (Tracy) of Wellsville; and Kathleen (Brooks) of Midway; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Ruth Siqueiros and Linda Singleton; a sister-in-law, Shirlee S. Darley; and brother-in-law, Reed M. Darley; and a special niece, Sharon Leishman. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, John Leatham; two brothers who died at birth; her two sisters, Margaret Perry; and Evelyn Smith.

Our gratitude and thanks to the compassionate staff at IHC Hospice, the Wound Care Center and Dr. Jeffrey Huffman. Most importantly, our love and deep appreciation for Virginia's many dear friends and neighbors who shared so many kind acts of love and service. Charity is the pure love of Christ.Funeral services will begin at noon Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Wellsville Stake Center on Center and Main, with Bishop Craig Rupp conducting.
