Services were held Monday afternoon from the chapel of the Smith Funeral Home for William Bernhard, 72, who died Sunday at his home in the Peterson Addition. Dr. G. S. Kuhlmann, pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church, officiated and interment was in the Garden of Memories.
A native of Gillespie County, he had lived in this community for most of his life and was a retired butcher. He had not complained of being ill, and had planned a fishing trip and visit with his daughter, Mrs. John Orr in Lampasas for this week. Mrs. Bernhard went to his room to lower the windows when the rain began early Sunday morning, and when he did not waken she found that he had passed away in his sleep.

S., and Milton Bernhard of this city; Mrs. John Orr, Lampasas; Marvin Bernhard of Knoxville, Tenn.; and Wallace Bernhard of San Antonio. Two brothers, Albert Bernhard of Tivydale and Otto Bernhard of Kerrville; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
