LAMPASAS - Mable Bernhard Orr of Lampasas died in her home on September 4, 2006, at the age of 90.
Mrs. Orr was born on December 4, 1915, in Fredericksburg, Texas. She was the daughter of William and Emma Wallace Bernhard. She grew up in Kerrville and graduated from Tivy High School.
Mrs. Orr married John Luther Orr in Kerrville on May 14, 1941. They lived in Houston where Mr. Orr worked at ship building during World War II. In 1946, they returned to the Kerrville area. They moved to Lampasas County in 1950, living on a ranch near Kempner. In 1984, the Orrs moved to Lampasas where they both resided until their deaths.
Mr. Orr preceded Mrs. Orr in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and her parents.
She worked in retail sales and then as a homemaker after her marriage to John Orr. She attended the First Methodist Church in Lampasas.
Mrs. Orr is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Tompkins of Lampasas and Candy Stone of Austin and their husbands, John Tompkins and Brad Stone. She has two grandchildren, Becky Tompkins of Lampasas and Jason Kunes of Austin. She is also survived by her brother, Milton Bernhard of Kerrville, his wife, Betty, and her sister-in-law, Karla Bernhard of Kerrville. Numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, survive her as well.
Services will be September 8, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel, and then on September 9, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville, Texas.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
Local arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
