Violet Spruill Cahoon
Violet Spruill Cahoon, 66, died Thursday, Oct. 20 at her residence. Born in East Lake, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Nathaniel and Minnie Taft Spruill and was the wife of Norman Leroy Cahoon of the home. She was a retired secretary for Dare County and a member of the East Lake Holiness Church. Also surviving are one daughter, Tina C. Burgess of East Lake; four sons, Buddy Cahoon of Stumpy Point, Wilbur Cahoon and Loubet Cahoon, both of East Lake and Barry Cahoon of Manns Harbor; three sisters, Alma Lee Spruill and Diane Wilson, both of Manteo and Marian Spruill of East Lake; one brother, Tommy Spruill of Gum Neck; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild. A celebration of life was set for 1 p.m. Oct. 22 at Twiford's Colony Chapel with Rev. Anthony Ralph officiating. Burial to be in the East Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. Twiford's Colony Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
